The Cat who Prayed

There was a cat

who sat

and stayed

while I prayed.

He simply waited

nothing stated,

only purred

until I stirred.

I wonder…..

Did that cat

who sat

and stayed

also pray?

Perhaps in waiting

he was stating

by that purring

his heart was stirring.

And so …

There was a cat

who sat

and stayed

And thus we prayed.

Neither waiting,

neither stating,

merely purring,

for our hearts were stirring.
