Xmas MishMash
Christmas eve and candle light,
Voices singing carols,
Airs of pine and gingerbread,
And an angel we call Herald.
Cooking lo-fat, Granny groans,
“No pies without the lard!”
Season’s greetings in the mail
And we didn’t send them a card.
We know the birthdate is devised,
We differ why he came,
Still on this night we seem to hope
There is One who knows our name.
On this night, throughout it all,
We try desperately to believe
A story of one in Bethlehem
And gifts on Christmas eve.
It's far too warm for snowmen,
Nor is there lard in sight,
But the man in the sleigh still calls out,
“Happy Christmas to all
and to all a good night.”
